Photo Section

Thousands of photos were taken by automatic cameras aboard the aircraft which activated upon bomb release over the target. Once the aircraft returned to base it was the job of the Photo Section to process and develop each picture and carefully annotate each photo with a date, target, and altitude the photo was taken. The photos were then passed on to photo interpreters to assess the bomb-damage and the relative success of the bombing mission.
